Three people were transported to hospitals in three separate incidents on Monday afternoon in New Philadelphia.
A kid on a bike was hit by a car at the Five Points intersection. Another child was injured in a fight at Tuscora Park. And a 20-year-old motorcyclist had a suspected concussion after crashing his bike.
Assistant Fire Chief Matt Tharp says a 12-year-old boy was struck while riding his bike at about 4:45 p.m. at the intersection of Tuscarawas and West High avenues.
Tharp says the boy was conscious and awake the entire time and did not appear to have a head injury. First responders secured him with a cervical collar and transported him to Mercy Hospital. His father rode along.
Meanwhile, at about 5:10 p.m., a 20-year-old motorcyclist slipped on some gravel and crashed at the intersection of West High and state Route 39. He had signs of a concussion, so EMS transported him to the hospital.
Tharp also helped the boy who was apparently beat up by some other kids at Tuscora Park right around that same time. Tharp says the boy was up and talking but his mother asked first responders to take him to Union Hospital.
Police continue to investigate all three incidents.
