The Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital cancer center will close for several months for a seven-million-dollar upgrade.

Hospital President Doctor Thomas Rogers says the renovations and addition of new, state-of-the-art equipment will allow the hospital to treat many different types of cancers.

“We will have the ability to take care of patient’s right here in Tuscarawas County. Which is what we want [so] you don’t have to drive, and you want to keep that care here.”

Rogers says the cancer center will close around august 16th and hopefully reopen in early 2025.

In the meantime, patients can go to Mercy Hospital.

Union hospital received a one-million-dollar state grant toward the project. The union auxiliary contributed $450,000.
