One person was killed in a Tuesday night accident involving a semi and SUV.
The New Philadelphia State Highway Patrol Post says they were dispatched at 11:42pm to the intersection of State Route 93 and US 250 in Franklin Township.
Investigators say a 2008 Nissan Rogue was south on SR 93. After failing to stop at a stop sign, the SUV struck a 2021 Peterbilt commercial truck that was pulling a tanker trailer on US 250.
The Nissan operator, 53-year-old Jeffrey Knerr, of Canton, was pronounced deceased at the scene. OSP notes Knerr was not wearing a seatbelt, and impairment is a suspected factor.
The semi-truck operator, a Newcomerstown woman, was not injured.
The crash is still under investigation.
