Carol A. Gerber, 82, of Dover, and formerly of Strasburg, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Aultman Hospital.

She was born on October 11, 1941, in Canton to the late Earl and Frances Talasis Steiner. Carol was also preceded in death by her husband, Russell D. Gerber on August 2, 2014; infant sons, Earl, Jerry, and David Gerber; and sister, Nancy Swonger.

Throughout her life, Carol dedicated herself to serving others. She graduated from Bolivar High School in 1959 and later embarked on a fulfilling career as a waitress at Dutch Harvest in Berlin, where she devoted 20 years of service. Her warm smile and friendly demeanor made her a favorite among patrons and colleagues alike.

Carol’s kindness extended beyond her workplace as she was actively involved in the Strasburg United Methodist Church. She selflessly volunteered her time at the food pantry, embodying compassion and generosity in all aspects of her life.

In her leisure time, Carol found joy in various hobbies and interests. She had a passion for crafting and enjoyed making and painting ceramics, often showcasing her creations at craft shows. Her green thumb was evident in the beautiful landscaping around her home, reflecting her love for gardening. Moreover, Carol cherished the holiday season and delighted in decorating her home for Christmas.

Carol will be deeply missed by her surviving family, including her children Kim (Bob) Andrews of Bolivar and Matt Gerber of Millersburg. She will also be fondly remembered by her grandchildren Olivia and Madison Andrews, as well as Morgan and Jordan Gerber. In addition to her immediate family, Carol is survived by her sisters Earlene Tidrick of New Philadelphia and Marie (Don) Sayles of Tennessee.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 26th starting at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Strasburg with Pastor Matthew Wald officiating. Interment will be in the Grandview Union Cemetery, Strasburg. The family will be greeting friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 am to 11 am.
