Carol Ann Stanley, 86, of Tuscarawas, Ohio, was called to the more immediate presence of her Lord on Sunday, July 21, 2024, from the Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare Truman House in New Philadelphia, while surrounded by her loving family. Born February 23, 1938 in Dennison, Ohio, she was the last surviving daughter of the late Lester Eugene and Evelyn Marie (Howard) Moore, having been preceded in death by her sister, Jean Elaine Moore.

Carol was a 1956 graduate of Tuscarawas-Warwick High School who maintained her close relationship with her alma mater through her friendships and by serving as the secretary of the Alumni Association. She made Tuscarawas her home throughout her life and was a longtime member of Sharon Moravian Church. She loved serving her Lord and her church family as an active member of the Moravian Women. Carol was also active in her community as a faithful volunteer at the Truman House (with the former Community Hospice) and at Twin City Hospital in Dennison.

She worked as a secretary for many years, beginning at Tuscarawas-Warwick High School and continuing at the former Warner and Swasey (now Gradall), as well as a local credit union, before working as the longtime secretary in the office at Indian Valley North until her retirement in 1986. After concluding her career, she became a beloved “Professional Grandma” – a role which she cherished – especially enjoying her trips to Georgia to visit her grandchildren. Carol delighted in family photos and has compiled a treasure trove of photo albums for her family. Always an outgoing and loyal friend, she looked forward to spending time each month with her Breakfast Club friends, Jane Delcoma and Mary Krocker. Possibly most of all, she will be remembered as “The Ohio State Lady”. She shared her love for The Ohio State Buckeyes (and their football program in particular) with anyone who would listen. She was delighted to have been able to attend a game at The Horseshoe in the 2023 home season.

On May 31, 1961, Carol married Thomas Alfred Stanley who survives her along with their daughters, Amy (companion, Marybeth Sullivan) Stanley and Stacey Martin; granddaughters, Riley (husband, Keifer) Tuberville and Alexandria (companion, Nick Ewing) Martin; and great-grandson, Harper Tuberville.

In keeping with Carol’s wishes, cremation is planned. A memorial service, officiated by Pastor Lloyd Gooden, will be held on a future date in Sharon Moravian Church in Tuscarawas before her interment in the church’s cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Carol would love donations honoring her memory to be made to the Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare Truman House, 716 Commercial Ave. S.W., New Philadelphia, OH  44663.
