Carole Ann Harmon, age 80, of Bolivar, died peacefully, Tuesday, May 20, 2025, while in the care of Altercare Navarre, following a period of declining health.

Born in Union Hospital at Dover on September 24, 1944, Carole was a daughter of the late Harlan W. and AnnaBelle Popa Fisher.

She was a 1962 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and married Richard “Rich” Harmon on December 28, 1963. While Rich was stationed in Fort Hood, Texas, Carole went to cosmetology school, earning her certification and licensing. She owned and operated the Curly Q salon in Sugarcreek for many years and maintained a small salon from her residence as she began to raise her family. Carole ultimately went to work for Dover City Schools and retired as a teacher’s aide.

In her younger years, Carole cherished working alongside her family for months at a time to design and prepare a float for the annual Swiss Festival Parade. She also loved attending Jamboree in the Hills and was a devoted Ohio State Buckeyes football fan. Carole also enjoyed following the Cleveland Guardians.

Las Vegas wasn’t just a destination for Carole—it was her happy place. If you were looking for her there, odds were she was working the draw poker machines or chasing a jackpot on her favorite slots. And when she couldn’t hop a plane to Vegas? A quick trip to Wheeling Island did the trick.

Above all, Carole’s greatest joy came from supporting her children and grandchildren. She never missed a chance to attend their school activities and events. Holidays were especially meaningful—she brought them to life with her signature clue cards that led the family on hunts around the house for special gifts. Her cherished baked goods and festive traditions will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Rich of Bolivar; their children, Dennis (Dianna) Harmon of Magnolia, and Mindy (Jeff) Ricker of Dover; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Jessica) Harmon, Matt (Haleigh) Harmon, Samantha Davis, Behn Marapao, Emilie (Andrew) Donohoe, Chase Ricker, and Makenzie Ricker, and numerous great-grandchildren. Completing the family are a brother, Michael (Sally) Fisher; a sister-in-law, Linda Fisher; a special niece, Debbie Buford, and numerous other nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Carole was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Fisher, and special family members George Popa, and William and Shirley Marquis.

The family will greet guests on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover and again one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, from 1-2 PM. Pastor Brian Flood will lead a 2 PM service celebrating Carole’s life on Wednesday in the Dover Geib Center. Burial will follow in the Dover Burial Park. A meal and fellowship will be shared in the Hospitality Room of the Dover Geib Center following the services.
