Nick McWilliams reporting – A Dennison house fire caused extensive damage this week, claiming the life of a pet.

The initial call came in just before 6 p.m. to the Dennison Fire Department for an active structure fire on Logan Street.

Chief Dave McConnell says that Uhrichsville and Warwick Township also responded, and units determined that all persons had already exited the house.

“When we got there, there was moderate smoke showing on the rear of the structure. We pulled a couple attack lines and went in and made an aggressive attack and knocked the fire down, and did salvage and overhaul operations.”

Two females and one juvenile were able to exit the home, along with three dogs, but one cat was unable to escape.

The fire is now under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office, with a cause unknown at this time.

Damage is estimated around $70,000, according to McConnell.
