Cathy E. Rhodes, 78, of Canton, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, September 28, 2022.

Born in Canton, Cathy was a graduate of Carrollton High School at Carrolton and had worked for both Case Farms and Gerber Poultry, ultimately retiring from Gerber Poultry as a Manager.

To say that Cathy was dedicated to her family would be an understatement. She spent her life loving, caring, and nurturing her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and supported each of them in all their various sporting activities. Cathy loved sports and could also be found cheering on her favorite sports teams that included, including the Cincinnati Bengals, the Cleveland Guardians, and Ohio State Buckeyes. Every year she would pick her brackets for the NCAA Men’s Basketball March Madness Tournament and proclaim that “this one is the winner!”

Some of her happiest times were filled with love and laughter while vacationing with her family in Myrtle Beach, gambling at a casino, or just sitting quietly and reading. It did not matter what she was doing, to Cathy, being around her family was everything.

Surviving is her four children, Becky Rhodes and her wife, Jennifer Rhodes of Canton, Bill Rhodes of Bolivar, Kristy (Larry) Davis of Union, Missouri, and Holly Rhodes and her companion Stacie of Canton; seven grandchildren, Ryan (Kelssi) Rhodes, Joshua (Beth) Lewis, Amber (Brian) Farver, Jordan (Kenton) McCartney, Logan (Kayla) Rine, Zach Rhodes and his fiancée Jessica Reed and Preston Smith; three great-grandchildren, Cole, Mya and Bryson and was eagerly anticipating the arrival of two additional great-grandsons; two sisters and two brothers, Wanda (John) Ladrach, Mary Large, Charles (Judy) Meiser and David (Carol) Meiser.

Cathy was preceded in death by her father, Paul W. Board, her mother and step-father, Dorothy I. (Huston) Meiser and Charles Meiser; her first husband, Robert W. Rhodes; an infant daughter, Wendy Rhodes; her sister, Margaret Turner; her brother-in-law, Richard Large and her longtime companion, Paul “Dick” Mase.

The family will be greeting guests on Monday, October 3, 2022, from 4 to 6:30 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover where a service celebrating Cathy’s life will begin at 6:30 PM with Pastor Brian Flood officiating.
