Certain Department Heads Receive Slight Pay Bump

In a 6 to 1 vote, pay raises were approved for certain department heads at Uhrichsville Council’s latest meeting.

The finance committee recommended the passage on an emergency basis for a 3.5% pay increase for the police and fire chief’s, the city service director, and street department superintendent. With the passage, the pay bump was effective immediately. These positions are not part of the three separate unions as negotiations continue.

Councilman Matt Fox was the lone no vote, and he said more discussion was needed.

Elsewhere, Committee Chair Polly Clark noted the fire department is in need of another full-time position.

“Chief Edwards is still in the need full-time employee within the department to conduct fire safety inspections, assist in enforcing relevant property maintenance codes, and perform public safety education.”

The finance committee has scheduled another meeting, at 6pm, on September 12^th.
