The Tuscarawas County Board of Elections has gone through the process of reorganization again, just days before the start of early voting for the November election.

Democrat Mark Waltz has resigned as chair of the four-member board of elections. He’s been replaced by former longtime chair, republican Tom Hisrich.

But the director of the board of elections and the chairman of the board cannot be from the same political party, so republican Brian Swartzwelder is out as board director.  The new board director is democrat Dave Johnson.  Swartzwelder will continue serving at the office as the deputy director.
