The grand jury has handed down felony indictments in an assault case out of New Philadelphia.
Christopher Beatty remains in the Tuscarawas County jail on a quarter-million-dollar bond ahead of his arraignment in common pleas court. The 36-year-old city resident is charged with aggravated burglary and felonious assault for the august 20th attack at the victim’s home on Fair Avenue northwest.
Beatty was indicted Thursday alongside 36-year-old Jared Soltero of Minerva and 38-year-old Todd Riordan of Massillon, who are facing the same two charges for their alleged roles.
New Philadelphia police Captain Ty Norris described the incident as alcohol related, as the three suspects, who worked for the same energy services company, were reportedly drinking together at a local establishment before the attack that left the victim with multiple abrasions, facial fractures, and a partially detached ear.
A fourth man was arrested with the other three and had his case bound over from New Philadelphia municipal court but hasn’t been indicted on formal charges.
