A 26-year-old is in the Tuscarawas County Jail after a Sunday standoff with law enforcement.

Tuscarawas County Sheriff Orvis Campbell released that, at approximately 3:16pm, the Office received a call who was concerned that a family member may harm himself, while noting an earlier dispute and threats toward a neighbor. Possible guns inside the home were mentioned.

Upon arrival at the Schnieder’s Crossing Road residence, deputies observed a broken front window and items in the yard.

The male was contacted by pone but was uncooperative.

Numerous attempts followed for the man to answer the door. A release notes that loud bangs were heard inside, and deputies kicked in the door. Before entering, commands for the man to come out were issued. With no response, warnings were issued that a Sheriff’s K9 would be deployed. After a third warning, the man surrendered. He was taken directly to jail for evaluation. Charges are pending.
