State Highway Patrol troopers say a Sugarcreek man was hospitalized in Akron after crashing an ATV north of the village on Sunday.
New Philadelphia Post Sgt. Jennifer Makris says the 57-year-old man lost control as he was turning right from Copperhead Road Northwest onto Oak Ridge Road Sunday around 4 p.m. The man took the turn too wide and the ATV went off the left side of the roadway throwing the driver from the vehicle. Alcohol is a suspected factor in the crash.
Makris says the man suffered injuries, mainly to the head, that were considered serious but non-life threatening, and he was flown to Akron general hospital.
Makris adds there were no passengers in the ATV and charges are pending.
