A memorial service and celebration of life for Charles “Charlie” Arthur Carpenter, age 42, of Thornville, will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 2, at Cornerstone Church of Licking County, 4905 Jacksontown Road, Heath, with Pastor Andre Norman, officiating.
Charlie passed away on August 29, 2022. He was born on September 11, 1979, at Twin City Hospital in Dennison, Ohio to the late Mary (Hollis) Perry.
Charlie was a beloved husband, father, son, teacher, coach, outdoorsman, and widely acclaimed pun-master extraordinaire. He was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School and Heidelberg University. Charlie’s professional life was dedicated to his work as an educator. In a career that spanned 21 years, he held posts in the Reynoldsburg City Schools and the Heath City Schools. Most recently, he was named to the position of principal at Licking Valley Primary School this year.
On June 19, 2004, Charlie married Melissa Cable in Dover, Ohio. Together they had two children, Cierra and Gydan.
Charles is survived by his wife, Melissa (Cable) Carpenter of Thornville; a daughter, Cierra, and a son, Gydan, both of the home; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dennis and Mary Cable of Hebron; brother and sister-in-law, Rusty and Jessie Carpenter and children, Maddie, Aiden, Pixie, Harleigh, and Aira-L of Uhrichsville, OH; in addition to a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Angela and Darren Patton and children, Ashley Patton, Matthew Patton, Anna Tschudy and Elliava Tschudy of Newark, OH; an aunt Betty Bartimus of New Philadelphia; as well as cousins, Nicole and Jay Bartholow of Stonecreek, OH, Felicia Bartimus and her daughters, Kailee and Josalin of New Philadelphia, OH; and three step-sisters and one step-brother.
In addition to his mother, Charlie was preceded in death by his stepfather, Emmanuel “Mike” Perry; his maternal grandparents, Charles and Bessie (Smith) Hollis and one uncle, Ralph Hollis.
Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation at the church from 9 to 11 a.m Friday, two hours prior to the service.
