Cheryl Darlene Pompey, age 75, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, October 1, 2022, after a period of declining health.
Born in Dover, Ohio on October 22, 1946, Cheryl was the daughter of the late Eugene Gross and Doris (Rothacher) Smith.
Cheryl graduated from Midvale High School and worked for numerous years at Alsco. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. She also loved to garden, be outdoors, bake, cook, and spend money.
She is survived by her children, Steve Pompey of New Philadelphia, Jennifer Pompey of Dover, and Lynda Pompey of New Philadelphia; siblings, Susie, Robin (Jeff), Patty, David (Wendy), and Michael (Tina); a special cousin, Kathy Rothacher; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rocco Pompey; daughter, Lindsey Pompey; long-time companion, Don Grossniklaus; and brother, Dale Gross.
A private service will be held with Father Jeff Conning officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
Memorial contributions in Cheryl’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
