A missing 5-year-old boy was found safely in a duplex right by the property where he disappeared from.
Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Captain Adam Fisher says the office issued an emergency alert after the boy was reported missing at 1:35 p.m. Fisher says the boy, who is nonverbal, was in the yard with his mother and grandmother and wandered off when they weren’t looking for a brief moment.
The sheriff’s office, several area fire departments and the state highway patrol responded to help search. They found him just after 3 p.m. in a residence to the immediate north. He had opened an unlocked back door of a duplex where nobody was home. Fisher says he got comfortable, checked some cabinets and had some snacks.
He had been missing for about an hour and a half.
