A Wednesday wreck on Interstate 77 claimed the life of a 4-year-old with the driver and another child passenger sustaining minor injuries.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, at roughly 5:50pm, a 2007 Honda Civic was northbound when the driver, a 38-year-old of Dover, failed to maintain control near milepost 88, in Franklin Township.

The vehicle went off the left side of the road, struck the raised grass median, and began overturning.

The driver and a 7-year-old passenger were taken to Mercy Hospital with minor injuries. The other passenger, a 4-year-old, was taken to Union Hospital with severe injuries and was later pronounced deceased.

Alcohol is not a suspected factor with the crash remaining under investigation.
