Christine J. Chenevey, age 69, of Dover, passed away on December 4, 2024, at Aultman Hospital in Canton following an extended illness. She leaves a legacy of creativity, love, and passion for the outdoors.

Born on October 13, 1955, in Massillon, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Archie and Dorothy (Ray) Chenevey. Christine graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1975 and furthered her education at Muskingum College in Zanesville. Her professional journey included a career as a cook at Park Village Health Care Center in Dover. In addition, Christine embraced her entrepreneurial spirit by establishing Christine Chenevey Photography, showcasing her eye for beauty through the lens. She was also very tech-savvy and built her own website.

Those who knew Christine came to appreciate her personality. She was very creative at heart, loved to cook and was known for her adventurous palate, often experimenting with new recipes. Thanksgiving held a special place in her heart as her favorite holiday, a time for gathering and sharing meals with family. An amateur food critic, she enjoyed exploring various culinary styles and sharing her findings with others.

Christine’s love for the outdoors and nature led to fond memories spent camping, hiking and taking photographs. She had a keen interest in researching parks and travel, always eager to discover what each destination had to offer.

Christine will be dearly missed by her sisters, Mary Chenevey, Cathy Lasher and Teri (Dennis) Bertsch; her brothers, Jerry (Dawn), Steve, Art and Bob Chenevey; her special sisters-in-heart, Ann and Satomi Chenevey; and her many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews who will remember her fondly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Kathy Chenevey, her brother-in-law, John Lasher and a great-niece.

Cremation is in the care of the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover. A celebration of Christine’s life will be held in the former St. Genevieve’s Church in Calmoutier, Holmes County. The date and time will be announced on this website. Burial of her cremated remains will be in the church cemetery.

Contributions honoring Christine’s memory may be made to the Calmoutier Memorial Association (for the church), or the Calmoutier Cemetery Endowment Fund, both in care of Michele Koch, 8961 McQuaid Rd., Orrville, Ohio 44667. (Calmoutier was a French farming community where some of Christine’s ancestors, the Cheneveys, once resided.)
