Christopher (Chris) A. McDonald, age 41, residing in Parkersburg, WV, entered into heaven on July 22, 2023. Chris was born in Harrogate, Yorkshire, England on December 22, 1981, to his parents, Jeffery Allen McDonald and Elaine Louise Schmit McDonald, who were serving in the military stationed in England at the time of his birth.
Chris was a 1999 graduate of South Carroll High School, Sykesville, Maryland. He enjoyed soccer and running. He was often the goalie and prided himself that no goals were scored in a game. He ran in cross-country sports and enjoyed representing his high school at the Maryland State Championship where he placed in the top seven runners in Division III. In Field and Track events, Chris was a sprinter and middle-distance runner, often setting records for the school.
Chris became a Cub Scout in Pack #719 at a young age and continued on in the scouting arena through high school, achieving Eagle Scout status at the earliest possible age. His Eagle Scout project consisted of building numerous park benches along hiking trails in Piney Run Park near Sykesville, Maryland. He continued to work as a leader in the scouting arena with younger scouts needing assistance. He was a life member in the Boy Scouts of America.
College days were at Western Maryland College (later renamed McDaniel College) in Westminster, Maryland where he studied biology. This led him to the Medical Technician field when he joined the Army Reserves in April of 2004. Chris did active tour duties in Kosovo, Kuwait (x2), and three years at military bases in Georgia. Upon returning to civilian life, he worked for Ortho Medical Engineering.
Surviving are his parents, Jeffery and Elaine McDonald of Riggs Hollow Road, Tippecanoe, Ohio and a sister, Shannon (A. Troy) Frymiller of Huntsville, Alabama. Chris was not married and had no children.
