Cilta Anna Griffith, age 93, of Galion, Ohio and formerly of New Philadelphia, died early Tuesday, July 7, 2026, in the Galion Meadows Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Union Hospital in Dover, Ohio on May 11, 1933, Cilta was the oldest child of six children born to the late Domenic and Melita (DiSanto) Pallotto and grew up in Roswell, Ohio.

After graduating from the former St. Mary’s High School in 1951, Cilta began working for the W.T. Grant Department Store as a clerk. On August 30, 1958, she married Paul Griffith. Together the couple had two sons and moved to New Philadelphia in 1964. Cilta and Paul shared 36 years of marriage prior to Paul’s passing on October 10, 1994.

Cilta’s life centered around faith and family. She was a devout member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia where she was a member of the Altar Society and the Christian Mothers. Next came family. She would do anything for her sons and grandchildren and went all out for holiday events making sure everyone was well loved and had plenty of food for every gathering. Her Spaghetti will always be remembered as her grandchildren’s favorite meal.

Cilta is survived by her sons, Richard (Mary) Griffith of Galion, Ohio and David (Faith) Griffith of Hudson, Ohio; her grandchildren, Lisa (Kevin) Gutzwiller, Michael (Laura) Griffith, James (Myndi) Griffith, Jeanna (Drew) Wheeler, Mary (Travis) Schaeffer, Rachel (Taylor) Johnson, and Ryan Griffith, as well as, four step-grandchildren, Garin O’Leary, Jared O’Leary, Katy O’Leary, and Charles O’Leary. Completing the family are two brothers-in-law, Jim Mathias, Gary Wilhelm and former sister-in-law Nancy Pallotto as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her mother, father, and husband, Cilta was preceded in death by her siblings, Mary VanSickle, Ann Neiger, Tina Mathias, Lucy Wilhelm, and Dominic Pallotto.

The family will greet guests on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 10-11 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where Fr. Jeff Coning will lead a service in the funeral home’s chapel beginning at 11 AM. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
