Gwen Rummell Reporting –

The New Philadelphia City Health Department is teaming up with the Tuscarawas Public Library System to host an educational program, “Narcan: Be a Hero. Be Prepared.” for the community.

Participants will be trained on the basics of first-aid and naloxone (Narcan) administration as well as

Library Public Relations Associate Megan Kovalaske-Grimm says the program isn’t solely for those struggling with addiction or know people who are.

“They (attendants) will hear information about the opioid epidemic in our community as well as learning about the Project DAWN kits. I think it’s always just good to be really prepared and know what’s available for you.”

Those who attended will also be offered a free Project DAWN Kit at the end of the evening.

The event will take place on October 12th at 6:30 pm at the Tuscarawas Public Library System’s Main Library. To register, call 330-364-4474.

More information on upcoming events at the library’s five locations can be found at www.tusclibrary.org.
