Gwen Rummell Reporting –
Preservation and restoration of Civil War headstones and monuments will be the focus of a Tuscarawas Valley Civil War Round Table meeting.
The meeting on Thursday, January 11th at 6:30 pm will detail local efforts to save headstones, memorials, and monuments that honor local Civil War veterans.
Dover Public Library Director Jim Gill says the goal behind the efforts is to preserve Civil War Heritage.
“The Civil War Round Table is a way to have dialogue about that and to learn from the past. With the preservation of monuments, it reminds us today what our ancestors went through in the 1860’s.”
The featured presenter for the meeting is Jeff Schrock. Schrock served in the US Air Force and the Ohio National Guard. He is a member of the American Legion, Vietnam Veterans of America, Disabled American Veterans, Amvets, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War.
The program, held in the Dover Public Library Community Room, is free and open to all who wish to attend.
