Community members can learn how to help others overcome addiction through a special class offering from the Tuscarawas County Health Department.

The Dover agency will host the free training seminar Responding to Addiction on Tuesday, August 11th, from 3 to 5 p.m. Guests can also attend virtually.

Community Relations Jennifer Demuth says the class size is limited to 25 people so trainers can answer everyone’s questions.

They are hosting to build community awareness as Overdose Awareness Day is August 31st leading into National Recovery Month in September. It helps get the community involved in helping others find support for recovery.”

There also will be information on resources for recovery support and how to help prevent a relapse.

Trained Tuscarawas County Health Department educators will teach the community about the signs and symptoms of addiction, evidence-based treatment options, and how to start a conversation with someone in need of support.”

Each person in the training will receive a free Narcan kit. To register, call the Health Department at 330-343-5555 ext. 1780.
