Mary Alice Reporting –

With a pending retirement, the Tuscarawas County Board of Elections Office is seeking applications to fill a clerk position.

The person would be an employee of the county but the Elections Office has its own board.

Director Gail Garbrandt says those interested must be a registered Republican and they would take care of the front office, assist individuals in the election or filing process, and with recruiting poll workers.

“Should be able to multi-task and be able to take direction and also be able to know kind of how our system works, the chain of command, and know how to process all of these things, and we do provide training.”

The spot is opening at the end of September with the retirement of Barbara Wills, a 35-year employee at the elections office.

“Her history of the office and the wealth of information that she holds is just so invaluable so that’s why it’s so important for us to get someone as soon as possible so that they can start to learn from her.”

To apply for the full-time position, with benefits, submit a cover letter and resume, with three references, and complete the Tuscarawas County Employment Application on the county’s website. It can then be sent to: Tuscarawas County Board of Elections P.O. Box 69, New Philadelphia, OH 44683.
