Gwen Rummell Reporting –

As part of an annual fundraiser, runners and walkers will take to the streets in New Philadelphia and Dover.

The 17th annual Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital Run for Home will be held on April 6th and 7th. Over the last 6 years, the event has raised a total of $256,000 for Habitat for Humanity East Central Ohio.

Activities will begin at Tuscora Park in New Philadelphia and start at 8 am on Saturday, where the doors will open for registration and packet pick-up. At 9 am, a free kids’ run will be held.

The half-marathon and team relay will begin at 7:00 am on Sunday. The route will start at Tuscora Park, continue to Dover City Park, and end at the track inside Woody Hayes Quaker Stadium. It is noted that some roads and lanes will be closed along the route.

The theme for the event is inspired by the April 8th solar eclipse. Awards and shirts will feature an eclipse theme as well as kids’ run activities.

Registration for the event will remain open through race weekend. The complete schedule and registration information can be found at www.runforhome.org.
