The compensation for serving on a jury in Tuscarawas County is increasing.

Beginning in 2025, jurors will get paid 20 dollars for each half or full day of service and 30-bucks per day after the first 10.

Board of commissioner’s president Kristen Zemis says the judges collectively requested the increase.

Juror compensation in Tuscarawas County has remained unchanged for 35 years at 15 dollars per day and 12 for half-days with no increase for serving an extended period.

Zemis knows those extra few dollars won’t replace lost wages but says it should at least pay for the trip to the courthouse and back.

The new rates apply to every court in Tuscarawas County and go into effect on January 1st.
