The Tuscarawas County Democratic Central Committee will meet to select a new Uhrichsville council president.
Chair Martha Campbell says with Robert “Buck” Cottrell stepping down to fill a position on the Twin City Water District board, a meeting will convene on Tuesday, October 6th to review any applicants.
“Any registered democrat in Uhrichsville interested in serving that position, if they would let me know ahead of time that they’re interested, but we encourage them to attend that meeting. We’ll be asking some questions of them, and we’ll hopefully be selecting someone that evening.”
The 6:30pm meeting will be held in council chambers located within the municipal building.
“If they just show up that is fine. I would just like to know ahead of time people that are interested. I have received a couple of requests already.”
The council president term ends on December 31, 2029.
Campbell says they are looking for someone who is interested in making the community better.
“Somebody who understands what it means to be a public official where you are going to have to answer questions and you are going to be questioned about things going on in the community.”
