The Tusky Valley School District has received about 360-thousand dollars in donations toward 2.1-million dollars in athletic facility updates.

Athletic Director Steve Franks says over the summer crews will add turf to the football field, baseball field and softball infield. He says in addition to the donations, the district still has some money from the Rover Pipeline that was the main source of funding for the construction of the new high school/middle school building that opened in 2023.

Franks says the district and Athletic Booster Club will continue to seek donations to help offset the remaining costs.

Tusky Valley is the latest area school district to turf its playing fields in recent years. Dover in the past five years has added artificial turf to its baseball and softball fields. New Philadelphia is trying to raise enough money to turf its baseball field through the Turf Tuscora Diamond initiative. Malvern is constructing a new athletic complex with turf fields to open in August.
