The Tuscarawas County Auditor seat is open on November’s ballot with the retirement of long-standing auditor Larry Lindberg.

Two names are on – Lisa Contini and Joe Rinehart.

Contini says she has a long background in the financial sector working in a tax department before transitioning to a business where she conducted governmental auditing for 17 years. Contini was then the fiscal officer for the child support agency and then moved as the county’s chief deputy auditor a few years ago.

“My history, my experience is what we need in this office to help resident when they come in with questions or items they need.”

Contini says Tuscarawas County is in good financial standing, and her goal would be to continue that path while also keeping strong collaborations.

Joe Rinehart, a Marine veteran, acknowledges his opponents financial background, but says his strong career in the technology industry, including establishing one of the earliest internet companies, would be an asset for the county auditor’s office.

“My internet company was in Portage County. I survived back in the days of dial up for almost 30 years. That was a big part of my career as a network administrator. I have a very thorough knowledge when it comes to the core network principles.”

Rinehart says streamlining technology can be cost savings, like when he helped Akron Public School design a billing system that saved them thousands of dollars.

The general ballot winner would serve a 4-year term.

Tuesday is election day with polling locations open from 6:30am to 7:30pm.
