Cory G. Bolon, 44, of New Philadelphia, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family and friends on December 9, 2023, at the Community Hospice Truman House following a period of declining health.

Born in Dover on November 1, 1979, Cory was the son of Sandy L. (Pringle) Bolon and the late Louis “Sonny” Bolon.  He was a 1998 graduate of Dover High School.  He then joined the United States Marine Corp and after completing boot camp, Cory followed his dream of becoming a professional traveling chef. Recently he opened an LLC with his best friend, Jermaine Carter, and had plans to open a restaurant named “Maine and Bones.” Additionally, Cory was an avid sports enthusiast.

Cory is survived by his mom, Sandy Bolon of New Philadelphia; his son, Austin Bolon of North Carolina; his sister, Lynsey (Benjamin) Overton of Atwood Lake; nephews, Corben, Jamin, and Kaden Overton; and best friend who was like a brother, Jermaine Carter.

He was also preceded in death by his father, Louis “Sonny” Bolon; and grandparents, Eugene and Catherine Pringle, Sr. and Martin and Ann Redovian.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 12, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Burning River Church, 420 W. 3rd St., Dover. Pastor Dode Overton will lead Cory’s service at the church beginning at 11 a.m.  Burial will follow in Dover Burial Park at Dover. After the committal service concludes, a reception will be held at the church.
