Nick McWilliams reporting – As weather improves and temperatures rise, motorcycles are hitting the roads more frequently. A Wednesday afternoon accident is reminding motorists to remain vigilant.

At around 3:51 p.m. on State Route 751 near Pickwick Street in Lafayette Township, a motorcycle was being operated westbound by 47-year-old Eric Fick of Coshocton.

A tractor was driving eastbound, and Fick reported a white sedan went left-of-center passing it.

While adjusting his lane, he reportedly struck the rear tire of another motorcycle he was riding with, causing him to lose control, going off the right side of the road.

Fick, who was wearing a helmet, was transported for unknown injuries to Genesis Hospital of Coshocton.

The Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.

Coshocton County EMS and the West Lafayette Fire Department assisted on scene.

Drivers are reminded to take great care when passing farm equipment, and only pass when it is legal to do so.

Motorcyclists are reminded as well to give ample room between vehicles when riding in groups.
