Nick McWilliams reporting – The Tuscarawas County Community Foundation has given away over $365,000 in grant funding this year.

In total, over 30 nonprofits received grants, which are aimed at improving the life of residents in the county. 

Twelve came from the general fund of the foundation, 13 were from the Max T. and Erma Miller Donor Advised Fund, four were courtesy of the AAA Tuscarawas County Donor Advised Fund, and three were distributed by the Dennison Community Fund.

Top awards from the general fund of $10,000 went to Ohio Guidestone for a new men’s substance abuse treatment center in Dennison, metal picnic tables at Kelly Field in Midvale for Indian Valley Local Schools, additional emergency services for the American Red Cross, the Ohio Imagination Dolly Parton Library, elevator installation at the Clay Capital Heritage Museum, and a new playground at the Tusc County YMCA.

Top awards from the Miller Donor Fund were $55,000 to the RTY Park Place Teen Center, $35,000 for the United Way of Tuscarawas County, and $25,000 each for Trumpet in the Land, Dress-A-Child, and the Grace Lutheran Church of Dover.

The foundation awards grants to area nonprofits and government entities, along with scholarships for local students.
