
Nearly seven months after police say he violently attacked a Speedway clerk with a hammer; the suspect remains in the Tuscarawas County Jail.
39-year-old John McNutt is charged with five felonies, including attempted murder, for the December 9th assault that left the clerk bloody and lucky to be alive, according to law enforcement officials.
Court records show that following a competency evaluation, Judge Elizabeth Thomakos ordered McNutt to undergo 12 months of treatment at Heartland Behavioral Healthcare Clinic.
He is in jail waiting for a bed to open up.
The court will review the case again in March of next year.
