Mary Alice Reporting –

Following April rains, a slope stabilizations project is needed for County Road 46 and program funding has been approved.

The Tuscarawas County Engineer’s Office was awarded $266,533 through the Ohio Public Works Commission.

Engineer Doug Bachman says the roadway, roughly 500 feet from Baltic Elementary, broke up developing a long crack and part of the road dropped about six inches.

“[The work will] stabilize this area. It’s about a $300,000 project and this grant should cover about ninety-percent of the cost. The contractor has a state bid, they bid through the state of Ohio, and it’s been accepted and we’re able to piggy-back off that bid.”

Bachman adds that they are looking to go after more grant funding to address other areas slip areas.
