Cynthia C. “Cookie” Starr

The gates of Heaven were opened for Cindy upon her death on Saturday, October 28, 2023.  There is no person more worthy to spend eternity with her Heavenly Father than she.

She was born on April 17, 1953 in Steubenville, Ohio to the late John and Ethel Taczak Starr.  Cindy grew up in Amsterdam, Ohio where she attended elementary school and graduated from Springfield High School.  Upon her graduation, she attended Kent State University.  Her path to employment began at the Amsterdam State Bank and concluded at PNC Bank in New Philadelphia.  She was a devoted employee and was appreciated by all who knew her. Cindy was also a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in New Philadelphia

She is survived by her son, Christopher (Doris) Starr of Dover; sister, Amber (Bob) Hottel of South Carolina; brother, Greg (Margaret) Starr of Green; grandchildren, Taylor and Zane Starr, Brandon (Hannah) and McKenzie Sommers; great grandchildren, Connor Sommers and Ashton Sommers; niece, Lindsay Akers; nephews, Brad and Nathan Hottel.

Cindy loved spending time cooking, baking and was noted as a talented singer.  But more importantaly, she enjoyed time with her son and grandchildren, who she adored.

In keeping with her wishes, Cindy will be cremated through the care of the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover.  A private service will be held at a later date.
