Daniel Martin Styer, 71, of Newcomerstown went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, June 12, 2021, at Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia. He was born on July 21, 1950, to the late James and Ruth (Wise) Styer of Newcomerstown.
Dan was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Styer, who he married on September 7, 1969, his parents, sister, Karen Styer, nephew, Michael Styer, and brother-in-law, Richard Donley.
Dan is survived by his two children, Rebecca Styer (Okey) Ekechi and Ryan (Nicole) Styer, three grandchildren, Anna Styer, Evan Styer, and Carly Styer, brother, Joel (Myriam) Styer, and his children, Christopher (Bobbi) Styer and Gabrielle Styer, sister, Lori Styer (Mathew) Horvath, and her children, Kale (Brooke) Horvath, Micaiah Horvath, Cheyenne Horvath (Jeremy) Burnison, and Ty Horvath. He is also survived by his two sisters-in-law, Jane Maurer and Mary Donley, nephew, Jason Donley, and niece Alicia Donley.
Dan graduated from Newcomerstown High School in 1968 and the University of Akron with a B.S and a J.D. Dan worked as a computer programmer at Gradall for several years before pursuing a career as a lawyer. For the past 25 years he served many clients in his estate planning and probate practice.
Dan loved eating out with his friends and family, reading Scripture, and golfing. He loved being a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many. Dan had a strong faith in Jesus, and knew, in the final days, he was going home with Linda and many others.
Services for all friends and family will occur at Addy Funeral Home in Newcomerstown on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Brian Flood officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10 to 12 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at West Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Dan may be made to Community Hospice Truman House at myhospice.org.
