Darlene Kay Orr, 83, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital in Dover, following a brief illness. Born July 22, 1940 in Dennison, she was a daughter of the late Carl F. and Helen Irene (Rose) Cummings.
Darlene was a 1958 graduate of Uhrichsville High School before attending Kent State University to study accounting where she earned her associate degree. She then put her training to use, working for Twin City Hospital in the accounting department for many years, in addition to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. In retirement, she loved spending time caring for her flower gardens.
Her surviving family includes her children, Deb (Jeff) Young, William “Bill” Orr, and Sam D. Orr, II; and grandchildren, Stockton Young, Chase Orr, and Rylie Orr. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Larry Gibbens, and second husband, Sam D. Orr.
In keeping with Darlene’s wishes, she will be interred near her parents in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery without a public visitation or service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tuscarawas County Humane Society, 1432 Tall Timber Rd. N.E., New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
