David Allen Geldmacher, 60, of New Philadelphia, Ohio, was called to his heavenly home on Friday, December 1, 2023, from Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital in Dover, Ohio. Born October 29, 1963, in Baltimore, Maryland, he was a son of the late Wayne Allen and Patricia Nadine (Gordon) Geldmacher. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Geldmacher.
David grew up in Baltimore and proudly served his community as a Baltimore City Firefighter. He was then a railroader for a number of years before spending most of his career as a long-distance truck driver. He had made his home in Tuscarawas County, Ohio for 24 years after moving from Maryland. He was a longtime member of Jerusalem Church in New Philadelphia.
On March 7, 2006, David married Katherine E. (Smith) Geldmacher who survives him at their home. He is also survived by two daughters, Melissa (significant other, Nate) Geldmacher and Sara (husband, Ryan) Popkin; three grandchildren; and brothers, Scott Geldmacher and Allen Geldmacher. David was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be deeply missed. He also leaves behind his little dog, Kicker, who he always called his “princess”.
Pastor Tom Hendershot will officiate a 3:00 p.m. funeral on Sunday, December 3, in the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison where his family will receive callers beginning at 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jerusalem Church, 1417 Stonecreek Rd. S.W., New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
