David Calkins, 79, of Sugarcreek and formerly of Virginia passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at the Community Hospice Truman House.
He was born in Homer, New York on October 10, 1943, to the late Clyle and Ruby (Curtis) Calkins. He was married to Kay Calkins, she passed in 2011. David was an engineer in his early career, later he was a horse trainer and enjoyed going by “farmer Dave”. He attended Union Hill United Methodist Church in Sugarcreek and was a passionate golfer.
David is survived by his children Joanne (Jim) Ameral of Afton, Minnesota, Pastor Jeff (Sherry) Calkins of Sugarcreek, and Jim (Gloria) Calkins of Chicago, IL; brothers Tom Calkins and Doug (Ruth) Calkins; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In following David’s wishes, no public visitation or services are planned.
