David Dean Dunlap, 71, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at the Cleveland Clinic, following a sudden illness. Born March 18, 1952 in Dennison, he was a son of the late Robert and Dorothy (Kinsey) Dunlap.
A lifelong area resident, Dave grew up in Tippecanoe and was a 1970 graduate of Lakeland High School. He was employed by Alsco in Gnadenhutten for over 28 years until the company closed. Since then, he has enjoyed farming for Gary Kimble, as well as owning and operating Olde Warehouse Ceramics in Dennison with his wife. In addition to doing ceramics, he loved working on cars.
On July 28, 1973, Dave married the former Joanne L. “Jody” Daberko with whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage this past summer. He is survived by their daughter, Angela (Dwight) Johns; son, Nicholas (Megan) Dunlap; grandchildren, Henley Dunlap, Ashley Miles, Johnetta Johns, and Alexis “Bugs” (Tyler) Childress; great-grandchild, Jaxon Miles with another expected; many nieces and nephews; and his faithful canine companion, Scruffy. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ron Dunlap, and stepmother, Betty (Wheeler) Dunlap, as well as his parents.
Pastor Mike Travis will officiate a 1:00 p.m. funeral on Friday, December 29, 2023 at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison where his family will receive callers from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., prior to the service. Interment will follow in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
