David L. Couts – December 15, 2022

David L. Couts, 71, of Newcomerstown, Ohio, passed away on December 15, 2022, at Union Hospital in Dover. He was born September 2, 1951 in Coshocton, OH to the late James and Lorna (Angle) Couts.

Dave was a graduate of Newcomerstown High School in the class of 1969, and he played on the Newcomerstown football team during their undefeated season in 1968. He started working at Eureka when he was just 12 years old and worked every day of his life after, finally retiring from his position as a bus driver at Indian Valley Schools.

Dave attended Valley View Baptist Church. He enjoyed rabbit hunting, and he taught hunter’s safety courses for Tuscarawas County for many years. He enjoyed attending his boys’ sporting events. Dave loved baseball, Ohio State and the Browns, old westerns, his carpentry work, and getting together with his family.

Dave is survived by his girlfriend of almost 20 years, Karen Cain; his step-grandchildren, Randy Garrett of Dennison, Nick Garrett of Newcomerstown, Travis Garrett of Uhrichsville, Joshua Ault of Newcomerstown; step-children, Toni Snivley, John and Keith Garrett, Kim Grove, Suzette McGinnis; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Caroline Tipple (Mike) of Newcomerstown, Curt Couts (Judy) of Cadiz, Gerald Couts of New Holland; many nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his brother, James E. Couts, and his sister, Kerry Lou Addy.

A funeral service for Dave Couts will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at 12:00 pm at Addy Funeral Home with Sonny Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow at People’s Community Church Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Monday, December 19 from 4-6 pm at the Addy Funeral Home and on Tuesday, from 11 am- 12 pm prior to the service.
