David L. Schweitzer, 74, of New Philadelphia, Ohio died Sunday morning in the New Dawn Health Care Center in Dover. 

David was a truck driver for 27 years and previously worked for Roberts Express and M&B Trucking Company in Sugarcreek. 

He was born March 20, 1949, in Dover and was the son of the late Walter E. and Edythe (Hickman) Schweitzer.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Junior Walter Schweitzer and Terry Schweitzer. 

He enjoyed spending his time on his motorcycle and was an avid fisherman.  He made several moves in his life having lived in Colorado, California, and Florida.  He was a big fan of the Cleveland INDIANS and will be remembered by his family and friends as a great Storyteller. David graduated from Garaway High School in 1967. 

He will be sadly missed by his family that include his brother Denny of New Philadelphia; a son John Jackson of Mineral City; his nieces and nephews Summer Schweitzer and Tyler Schweitzer both of New Philadelphia, Rich Schweitzer of Dover, Ron Schweitzer of Mineral City, and his companion Marlene Rothacher of Strasburg along with several cousins. 

David’s life will be celebrated on Thursday, Dec. 7 beginning at 2pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover with Pastor Andy McClung officiating.  Interment will be in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 1-2pm.
