A local museum featuring carvings will once again participate in Museum Day Live on Saturday.
David Warther says those visiting his Sugarcreek museum will see the history of ships.
“We have a variety of ships from the ancient world to the modern times. I think people really like seeing the ancient Viking ships. The modern ones are fascinating because of all their complexity. The ships from the Middle Ages and ancient world are just very intriguing.”
Warther says they participate in the annual event to give everyone the opportunity to visit a museum.
“Hold this event every year. It gives local people a chance to come in and see what’s new, and it’s really just a fun day. We have free admission for everyone, so we get tourists that day at no charge.”
Warther is currently working on his 97th carving, a clipper ship from the 1800’s called Black Hawk.
“It sailed for 30 years. These ships had to go all the way down to the tip of South America and back up the western coast to get to San Francisco.”
Saturday’s free event opens up the David Warther Carvings, located on SR 39, for free tours starting at 10am and the final tour begins around 4pm.
