Dawn Ann Cotton, 84, a Uhrichsville resident for most of her life, passed away while surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at Hennis Care Centre in Bolivar where she had resided for a number of years. Born March 2, 1939 in Uhrichsville, she was the daughter of the late Harold Eugene and Geraldine Thelma (Pickering) Thompson.
On August 11, 1962, Dawn Ann married Herbert Lee Cotton, Sr. with whom she enjoyed over 57 years of marriage until his passing on January 11, 2020. They are survived by four children, Candace “Candy” (Mike) Bonanno, Jodi (Jerry) Bowser, Natalie (Randy) Colaner, and Herbert L. “Herby” (Lora) Cotton, Jr.; eleven grandchildren, Heidi (Josh) Clark, Brenton (Kristina) Bonanno, Sheena (Jay) Kendall, Sammy (fiancée, Calissa) Bonanno, Cody (fiancée, Makenna) Bonanno, Erica (Brent) Wanosik, Brooke (Jim) Darrah, Chase (Breanna) Colaner, Corey (Katie) Colaner, Kristin (Scott) Beabout, and Kyler (fiancée, Hunter) Colaner; and 25 great-grandchildren with another expected. Dawn Ann is also survived by her brother, Harold E. (Merleyann) Thompson, II, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Tommy L. Thompson and Randy L. Thompson.
Dawn Ann loved her family deeply and cherished the time that she spent with them. She enjoyed her role as homemaker, but had also worked at Zifaro’s Pizza Shop for 9 years and at Fisher Big Wheel for 8 years. She especially loved babysitting for her grandchildren and attending all of their sporting events. She was a longtime member of Park Christian Church in Dennison.
A private, family graveside service will be held in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery where she and her late husband will be interred together. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Park Christian Church, 236 Miller Ave., Dennison, OH 44621.
