Delores “Jane” Knight, 88, of New Philadelphia passed away on Monday, April 25, 2022, at the Community Hospice Truman House.

Born in Harrison County on February 26, 1934, she was the daughter of the late John D. and Iris Lucille (Garey) Nichols.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Rod Dean; grandson, Josh Knight; and five brothers, Wilson, Conrad, Victor, John, and Gary Nichols.

She was a talented artist, who enjoyed; sewing, quilting (which was her specialty,) crocheting, painting, and woodworking. Jane loved to travel and enjoyed taking her grandchildren along. She made it to 48 states with the exception of Hawaii and Alaska. She loved attending garage sales and visiting thrift shops to add to her collection of teapots, decorative plates, and chickens. She enjoyed nature, flowers, birds, and butterflies.

She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Donald L. Knight, who she married on November 15, 1950; her children, Sue Sorensen of Kingston Ontario, Canada, Marilyn Dean of Uhrichsville, Joseph (Karen) Knight of New Philadelphia, Kathy (Duane) Rainsberger of Uhrichsville, Donald O. Knight of New Philadelphia; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; along with two brothers, Charles (Ginger) Nichols of Lincoln Park, Michigan, and Dwight “Tootsie” Nichols of Freeport.

Friends are invited to call on Monday, May 2, 2022, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. A celebration of Jane’s life will be held immediately following calling hours at 11:00 am with Bill Eckert from Community Hospice officiating.
