Crews are tearing down the former East of Chicago Pizza in Dover and will tear down three other nearby properties in the coming days.
They’re all owned by the Dover City School District. Superintendent Karie McCrate says the district is clearing space for future expansion or new construction at the Dover Middle School site.
The four properties, which include the former Pro-Print building next door, will remain green space until the district decides on a facilities plan.
Facility discussions stalled last year when county officials blocked the district’s funding plan.
McCrate says the funding issues are still working their way through the legal process, so she is not in a position to talk about how that affects the construction timeline.
