Mary Alice Reporting – The Dennison Railroad Depot Museum has been improving their campus while also overseeing construction of the clay museum.

The historical spot in the village has made advancement to create a more immersive experience to visitors, as the National Historic Landmark remains as an example of a railroad canteen where volunteers served millions of World War II service members.

Director Wendy Zucal says this includes displays outside the main building, like the victory garden, canteens carts, and World War II mailboxes, among other enhancements.

“A new railroad historical documentary movie, new gift shop space, new restaurant space, we also purchased a new building across the street a couple of years ago and have made many new improvements to that building which we call Street Side.”

As for the Clay Capital Heritage Center, construction at the new building is progressing.

“It’s so exciting. My favorite thing to date is we actually recreated half of a kiln in there and it’s a theatre where we’ll show history of the clay history and oral history inside.”

The Dennison Depot is also getting ready for their annual Polar Express Train Ride as tickets are available for purchase.
