Mary Alice Reporting –

The Village of Dennison is providing advance notice to motorists and residents as paving begins on N. 2nd Street.

The Thursday start date, at 7am, will see the contractor out on N. 2nd, from Sumner Street to the south side of the High Street intersection. In this section, a parking ban will be in place and any vehicles on the street will be towed at the owner’s expense.

To pave the entire street, Dennison Mayor Greg DiDonato says, starting at Grant, it was estimated at over $250,000, so they decided to repave in sections.

“It had been paved back around 2000, when they redid 2nd Street and it’s starting to pop out here and there, and that’s the main artery into our community, into our downtown, and our business district. One of the most highly traveled roads in the Village of Dennison, so we figured we’d go ahead and do what we can afford.”

The contractor expects grinding and paving to last about two days.
