Mary Alice Reporting –

The last weekend of May will see vendors, rides, and food trucks setup in Dennison for their 45th Annual Railroad Festival.

Running May 30th through June 1st, the event will also feature a parade, musical entertainment, and a queen’s contest held Wednesday at 5pm at the Dennison Presbyterian Church.

Board President Michael Brindley says that they have been preparing for the 2024 festival since the previous one ended. He notes that attendees will notice some non-returning events, like the foot race, mainly due to lack of volunteers.

“It is going to feel a little bit smaller just as we have lost a lot of volunteers but we’re going to have the same number of rides, the most number of food vendors we’ve ever had, and we’re going to have some of the best entertainment we’ve ever had.”

Brindley says that some additions are coming to this year’s event lineup, like a peddle pull, and overall, he looks forward to seeing kids and adults come out and enjoy the festival.

Brindley adds that they are a group of 10 putting on the festival and typically, one of its size, would have about 20 volunteers. Those contributing their time have responsibilities like helping with some of the events, cleanup, and more to maintain a safe environment.

Anyone who would like to get involved can attended their meeting, held every month, on the second Saturday, at 9am.

“At Organic Church in Uhrichsville. The address is 1943 N. Water Street extension. They can also reach out to us on Facebook on through our email address which is rrfestinfo@gmail.com.”

He points out that high schoolers must have volunteer hours to graduate, and this could be a great opportunity to fulfill that requirement,
