Mary Alice Reporting –

To prevent further slippage of Stillwater Street, in Dennison, barrels and signs are up to have local traffic go through only.

The confusion came since that section of road is State Route 800 and is typically handled by the Ohio Department of Transportation, but they say it’s up to the village.

Dennison Mayor Greg DiDonato says they can handle it but will need proper crews to assess the situation.

“And then we’d have to find the sources of funds. I need to ensure that road does not get any more damage, or fall anymore and slip into the [Little Stillwater] Creek.”

DiDonato adds that area is important since there are houses and businesses in that area. It’s also an access point for supply trucks into the village and emergency vehicles.

The mayor says they will look at providing a short-term solution and then look into long-term options.
